The Kaoua El Khadra project is a significant, highly prospective magnetite iron ore exploration in central Mauritania

Project Details

• Location: The project area (Permit 3748 ), covering 495km², is located approximately 45 km southeast of the regional center of Akjoujt and 250 km northeast of the capital, Nouakchott.
• Ownership & Development: The project is owned by TWINS sarl and was being explored by the Australian company Charter Pacific Corporation Limited and Transafrika Resources (via SOMASO sa ) which entered into an agreement for the project in 2010. It is adjacent to other exploration permits held by companies such as Jindal Steel and Power Limited.
• Resource Estimates: Exploration results identified an initial target of between 3.4 and 4.4 billion tonnes of magnetite iron ore  at an average grade ranging between 28 and 32% Fe.
• Geology: The geology is similar to nearby deposits, such as the Kaouat mine (which has estimated reserves of 1.2 billion tonnes) and Glencore's nearby projects.

which is underlain by mafic dominated

Rocks are mainly from the archean and
